Raise them in safety
Remember Gwyneth Paltrow? Decent actress. Some say she's gorgeous. Some say she's a nutcase.
She is technically an American, but she is an expatriot living in London. Why? Because she wants to raise her daughter, Apple (yes, that's the kid's name), in a place that's safer--safer than America:
Why? Because, she says, America is violent. Why, we have guns in our schools, she says.
Yes, yes, we do. But then, how many of us have had a beheading in our own neighborhood? Yes, Gwyneth, beheadings:
A man was beheaded in a frenzied and prolonged axe attack in a London street today.
The axeman, smartly-dressed and in his thirties, felled his victim with one blow and then struck repeatedly "as if he was chopping wood".
The assault lasted several minutes near the Hampstead Theatre in Belsize Park. The attacker ignored his victim's screams and the pleas of two women passers-by and workmen. He stopped when police arrived. He then put down the axe near the body. He was described as looking "emotionless and cool" throughout.
That's some scary, violent stuff. But just where is this Belsize Park? Read on:
Belsize Park is also the home to a host of celebrities, including Jude Law, his estranged wife, Sadie Frost, Gwyneth Paltrow and her rock star husband, Chris Martin.
Gee... Maybe Gwyneth should consider owning a firearm, in case the axe wielding maniacs come after her and her daughter. Oh, wait, she can't do that in London. Hmmm... maybe Gwyneth would be safer raising her precious little Apple in Montana?
Just an observation.

According to the Daily Express, the victim "had it coming for 20 years."

Hmmm, how many heads did Jeffry Dahmer have in his kitchen?
A bad neighborhood in London is like a good neighborhood in Detroit. Trust me I have been to both.

I have also been to both, and London is trending worse. But that's not the point. The point is that people EXPECT a bunch of crap in Detroit. When it happens in London, it's still a shock, even though it is happening more and more.
PS, Dahmer was from Wisconsin, not Michigan.

More and more in Great Britain, self-defense itself is criminalized. It's PC gone mad. Here in Colorado, I can go to the supermarket with a S&W on my hip if I want to.

I was in Europe and the former USSR for 2 months, eating out, drinking, meeting import/export partners, walking the streets, taking public transportation, even renting a care in Lithuania. I had no problems, no close calls.
I came home to Stafford Springs, Connecticut, I was beaten severely by a cocaine dealer because he was angry at me for observing him, thinking I was an undercover cop he beat me and bit into my ear. I dialed 911.
Police arrived took my complaint. I demanded that they find the drug dealer who bit and beat me.
The customers that said they didn't know who their dealer friend was, suddenly remembered after I had found the culprit. I was arrested at my home in front of my wife.
I got the charges dropped by threatening the prosecutor with having the monster stand next to me, he outweighs me by about 100 pound, and stands at least a half a foot taller, saying I would demand that the 911 tape also be played.
I got sick of crack and heroin being sold off my front lawn by beer swilling teens using my yard as a toilet 24 hours a day, and proposed Civilian Oversight of Police to get the police to do something about the drug dealing and crime.
I wrote in newspapers complaining about police refusing to help those owning business and homes downtown.
When I get jumped coming home from work, I was arrested for pepper spraying a criminal who beat me and tried to rob me in my dark driveway. The criminal was given immunity to prosecute me as self-defense is illegal in Connecticut.
I was sentenced to a year in prison, 3 year probation for using pepper spray to defend my life and to prevent further injury and to make the beating stop. I had no previous record.
I lost $500,000 in real estate, my job, my family, my dog, and the sum total of my life.
I'd leave this country if I were allowed to leave. What they teach children about freedom and the goodness of our American system is cruel, crap, propaganda.
I'd like to take the first plane out.

I'm not sure what Steven's point is. I'm also not convinced that he is telling us the entire story. Self-defense is a legitimate legal defense against criminal prosecution in every jurisdiction in the country. My guess is that he is either making the whole thing up, or leaving out key details that incriminate him. Either way, I can't wait to see you leave the country.

Yes, there is more to the story.
Individuals such as Ritt Goldstein that also proposed Civilian Oversight of Police in Connecticut also lost their homes, small business, and their life as they knew it. Ritt fled to Sweden seeking political asylum.
Donald Christmas of Enfield, Connecticut, proposed Civilian Overight of Police at a Town Hall Public meeting and was threatened with prison by police openly at the meeting for having suggested such a thing. Donny was attacked by a police officer's 16 year old prostitute girlfriend on his property and only Donny was facing a year and a half in prison for being slapped from behind and yelled at by a police mascot.
Kathleen Dickson exposed government/corporate fraud and was thrown in a mental hospital, then prison without being told what she was charged with and then allowed to get out of prison if she signed papers that she would not be critical of Connecticut officials. What!!!???
Christopher Kennedy of Ellington Connecticut ran for public office against those with corrupt connections. He was critical of Judge Jonathan J. Kaplan and ended up being arrested and facing 50 years in prison for perjury, manufacturing evidence, and a whole laundry list of charges for having dared to expose Connecticut corruption.
He faces prison possibly today, Nov. 30, 2005, in a Connecticut Kangaroo Court.
I haven't left the country, but am in America, in an American State. I have been aiding Katrina victims in the Gulfport area of Mississippi and the New Orleans area of Lousiana since mid September and have renewed faith in America and good, honest government.
Thank you,
