Some assorted items from around the blogosphere:
Is Miers a smokescreen to get Stevens to retire on Bush's watch?
Could some conservatives be fighting against Miers in an attempt to force Bush into a change on immigration policy?
Are there other deals going on?
Do the rank and file voters on the right support Miers despite the hue and cry from the estalishment?
Malkin rounds up bad news for Miers.
After Jerry Falwell last week, Pat Robertson endorses Miers.
Misunderestimated again?
This could shape up into a very interesting battle, with very strange bedfellows...

Gully,
You haven't had much on Bush's latest betrayal, and, no, it wasn't a misunderestimation. On the bright side, he hasn't totally destroyed the conservative movement yet. But he may, and it's sad. I know you may disagree with the tone of this post, but, hey, just keep it in mind for future reference. Particularly if the next couple of elections go the way they look. I've been around for a long time, and I've seen the Bush family in action, and conservatives are not what they are about. As you know from the Second Amendment fight, the Administration actually wanted the AWB, but the House stopped them. And we all know that gun rights are where lots of people show their true colors.
Of course, he could come to his senses and proffer a better candidate (not Gonzales), but the damage done already is going to take a long time to get over. This nomination is simply the last straw. Mannix may be better. It was so easy to attack the Clintons for all their corruption, evil, cronyism, smarmy decadence, and more. Now it's time to eat crow with friends and relatives for a long, long time due to an administration that is out LBJing LBJ. Let's all stand up for the current Abe Fortas nomination.
You will probably disagree with me, and that's fine because it's healthy debate, but please don't use the "We only have 55 Senators" bit. It's basically a bogus argument from the RNC crowd. Bush could get a conservative with only 45 Senators if the nominee were the right race/religion/gender/region. 55 is a strong hand in politics, and Bush gets all kinds of things he wants, or he did, until things started collapsing after the election.
Again, don't shoot the messenger, it's meant with all due respect for your position.
