44! What a great number!
I'm really pressed for time (ain't law school hell?), so let's dive right in:
Here's some cool techie stuff on shock-waves, thanks to Wadcutter. And watch out--there's falling bullets! Just remember, no matter what your religion, the powers that be are on our side!
Guns are good. Guns are great. But what's even better than a gun when you are lost in the wild? Er... quite a few things, actually. Les Jones fill us in.
How does law enforcement interpret your state's right-to-carry statutes? Well, for those of you in Texas, Grits for Breakfast is trying to find out.
Ronocracy has been busy this week: we have the fine art of feminine self-defense, more stupid cop tricks, a reminder about firearms safety, and a nice plug for our favorite 2A photographer, Oleg Volk.
Ah, Shoot has an update on the progress for what promises to be an incredible new shooting park.
Another busy blogger, Michael Bane, first brings us some sad news:
U.S. Repeating Arms Co. Inc. said Tuesday it will close its Winchester firearm factory, threatening the future of a rifle that was once called "The Gun that Won the West."
This is not necessarily the end. Winchester has changed owners before. Let's hope that another good gun maker will step in and take over.
But there's good news coming out of the Bane blog, like some anime gun porn and this upcoming gun give-away:
And here I simply MUST quote Michael Bane:
The only thing better would be a poster of Kit shooting it!
In the words of the Coyote Killer: indeed! Wouldn't it look good here, between the Mini-14 and the MP-5?
Speaking of Kit, she just got back from Front Sight! Here's the write-ups for Day One and Day Two. Oh, and she asked me to point out this great post she found on photography and firearms from Heads Bunker. Whatever Kit wants, Kit gets...
Once More Into the Breach has more on Winchester.
Uncle thinks the ATF may be in trouble. And it sounds like the people driving the statistics for Nebraska should be in trouble, too...
It may be mid-January, but it's still not too late to buy me a Christmas present! You could send me one of these:
Thanks to ROFASix for the inspiration.
Wait a minute... The Judicator says Christmas is OVER. Everything is back to normal. I guess that means more buying and trading...
What will bounty hunters of the future carry? TFS Magnum has the answer. And WTF just might be ready himself...
Know what this is?
Blogonomicon has the answer (along with lots more great photos!).
Of course, my idea of a .45 ACP is probably more in-line with Geezer's...
We all read plenty of "urban legends" and other myths in our e-mails and on websites. But I hope and pray that this one from Blog Idaho is true and not just a joke.
Speaking of jokes, here is one of the worst ever (you were warned!). Although to be fair, it is also a great post about some beautiful battle rifles, so go check it out.
One of the busiest of gun bloggers this week is David Hardy from Of Arms and the Law. We have fresh lunacy from Governor Hot Rod of Illinois. I guess the zombies got him. And there is more proof that there is no global warming (or perhaps that God really is on our side). Speaking of God: while Jesus saves, it is clear that the feds don't. Did you know that criminals use stolen guns? They should pay me to give them answers instead of paying for these "studies." Oh, and there's more on the NFA records fiasco.
Mr. Completely has been even busier than David Hardy, with gunny goodness posts galore. Is full auto really more dangerous than semi auto? Heck, even little old ladies can handle full auto! And linguists out there? What is the sound of ten shots making one big hole? More proof that God is on our side. Rules for speed pins are up. And how to celebrate a blogiversary--with a new gun of course!
Posse Incitatus brings a pair of posts about gun debate: one and two.
People still unclear on the concept can just look at the successes in Florida, courtesy of the Civilian Gun Self-Defense Blog.
Xavier explains his lust for the K-22. He also has a follow-up to a previous post with a range report for his Colt Army Special. Nice grouping!
If you are interested in the M-1 Carbine, Denise from The Ten Ring has a wonderfully detailed post, with great pictures, on just that subject.
I'm not a real lawyer yet, so I'll hold off on commenting on this one and let the actual lawyers who read this chime in...
Cowboy Blob is continuing his "Glock and Knife" show this week here, here, and here. That last one makes me want to quote Crocodile Dundee...
That's not a knife...
You can't hit what you can't see. Fortunately, AnarchAngel has a word or two about flashlights. And just in case that isn't enough reading for you, check out this post on every handgun cartridge known to man (well, almost).
We need to ban swords! And maybe D.C. needs to ban blunt objects.
And finally, Hell in a Handbasket is here with some first principles for home protection.
That wraps up the 44th Carnival of Cordite! Next week, in honor of Carnival of Cordite #45, we will only be using submissions that are related to a 45-caliber firearm (any type).
Want to know how to send in your submissions? Well, you can e-mail:
c a r n i v a l o f c o r d i t e A T h o t m a i l D O T c o m
You can use the handy Carnival Submit Form from Conservative Cat. There's also a new Blog Carnival page. And don't forget to check out the UberCarnival. And of course, find previous issues of the Carnival of Cordite at our main page.
See you next week for the .45 extravabloganza! Until then, keep your powder dry!

I love your blog. Check mine out at www.donttrusthillary.com.
