Carnival of Cordite #49

Hello and welcome once again to the Carnival of Cordite!

Just a few quick announcements before we begin:

Next week, the Carnival of Cordite will be hosted by AnarchAngel.  The following week, check out the Carnival of Cordite at The Countertop Chronicles.  I should be back hosting here again after that, but I will be seeking guest hosts again from mid-April into May.  And then...

There is a very real possibility that, after late May, I may need to consider passing the Carnival of Cordite over to someone else on a permanent basis.  I will be spending 6 weeks or so doing NOTHING but prepping for the bar exam, and after that, I may be working in a job environment that is not conducive to blogging.

I am not saying it is GOING to happen that way.  I am just saying it MIGHT.

And if the time comes when I must hand over the reigns, I have no idea how to choose a successor.  Maybe I'll just have to auction the rights to the Carnival of Cordite off on eBay or something...

Anways... as Ann Coulter would say to Ted Kennedy, let's drive off that bridge when we come to it.  In the meantime:

Apologies to Michael Bane, who had some contributions last week that we didn't receive in time.  Check out the new SIG 556!

Sigrifle1

And, meet the winner of the custom 10/22!

Got a dirty gun?  Try some moose milk.  More on cleaning here.  Because you need a clean gun if you want to make the best shot ever!  And then you can try some hand loads...

Do you have large pests?  Then you need to arm up with one of these!  Got even bigger pests?  Try this.

Want to know what it could be like to go IPSC shooting with Jerry the Geek?  Well, he has video!

Captain of a Crew of One is busy fisking the newspaper ninnies.  Oh, and if you have a troublesome Yugoslavian SKS, maybe you need to know about this.

Have you heard of Cory Maye?  If not, you should have.  Read this!

The ATF is out to get your guns, and 60 million gun owners don't care?  Shameful!

Ronocracy has been busy this week.  Did you know that gun control is racist?  Did you know dozens of cops could ransack your property without a warrant?  Did you know that American civilians drive sales of military weapons?

Do you reload for the .45 ACP?  Bothenook has some information for you.

What do you choose for home protection?  Uncle discusses.  More here.

The Ten Ring likes this:

Regular South Park Pundit has a new site, and is also talking house guns.

Meanwhile, Toys in the Attic explores many options, including this:

Winchester130012gauge

Which, by the way, is very similar to my own personal choice: a Remington 870 with the 21" turkey barrel and a 3 round extension... now you know!

More on these lines here.

Speaking of shotguns... ever wonder what "gauge" actually translates to in terms of size?  Les Jones can answer that for you.

Are you into lever action rifles?  Countertop has some exciting news for you:

Of course, not all news is exciting...  But while D.C. is a lost cause, there is always Virginia...

Mr. Completey (who just won the coveted "bestest gunniest blogger ever" or something!) has also been a busy beaver... First, check out the rimfire roundup.  With posts like that, maybe Mr. C. can take over Carnival of Cordite duty from me some day...  Then, check out what might be the first amateur blogger review of this:

Fn1

I've been drooling over these in gun magazines for several years now, but still have yet to handle (or even see) one in person.  I'm SO jealous!  If you will be in Seattle on March 1, you can hear Mr. C. speak.  I wonder if Mr. C. can make it as far as Ohio for a meet-up?

Normally, Mr. C. is the one answering questions, but this time he has a question for you - do you know anything about this?

Dickson208

And from the old to the new, here is video of a state of the art Beretta in action.

Speaking of video... regular readers have seen numerous "guns of" posts that highlight what's being used in movies and television shows.  But this might be the first such post I have seen featuring animated guns:

Meanwhile, Hell in a Handbasket discusses guns of The Shield.

Here's some big news about a recent high-profile shooting in Baton Rouge.

Another busy blogger this week has been Of Arms and the Law.  We have polls on political affiliation and gun ownership.  We have a list of riskier sports than hunting (or, things you REALLY shouldn't do with Dick Cheney!), and for you voting NRA members, information on this year's NRA elections.

Xavier has also produced a lot of material this week.  He gives us... The S&W 15:

And check out these S&W 1911's!  Then, let's all go to the gun show:

And while you are there, keep an eye out for a K-22.

Cowboy Blob love his gun pr0n.  And these are NOT gun fearing weasels!

Akferts

And here's something to drool over.  Speaking of drool, check out the new baby!

Irons in the Fire has a new baby of his own:

This picture is a test... can you guess what this is before you click here and find out?

Next week's host has been busy of late (and despite sickness and other time consuming things, no less!)... First off, check out the new "rat" gun to go with the "mouse" gun:

Pf9leftsmall

Ask any gun nut, who invented the 1911 .45 ACP?  The answer of course, is John Moses Browning.  So why in hell doesn't Browning offer a 1911 or a .45 ACP?  And if not a .45 ACP, how about a .45 GAP?

Stepping away from the guns for a moment, but over to a subject that is important to shooters, hunters, and security folks: can you what's going on over there?  I mean way over there?  No?  Then you need some good binoculars!

Hell in a Handbasket wonders what is with some people.  Maybe it's too much rhetoric.

Finally this week, Baboon Pirates is going all "Danger Will Robinson" over ammo.

That wraps us up this week.  Be sure to check out AnarchAngel and Countertop over the next two weeks while yours truly is on the road.  I'll see y'all in a few weeks.  Until then, keep your powder dry!
