It's CORDITE time! Forget the fluff. Let's just get right to the best part:
Knowledge is Power brings us hot chick with guns:
Be sure to click on the "homework" line for all the photos in the extended entry. Drool away.
Oh, and LADIES (I know some of you are reading this):
Does the thought of a big, solid, tool, thrusting hard against you, sending powerful waves throughout your body, sound enticing?
Well then, a little bird tells me that you need to keep your eye on the SHOOTING GALLERY website...
Next week I'll be announcing the FOR WOMEN ONLY incredible Barrett .50 BMG 1000 yard shooting class, complete with a FREE .50 BMG Barrett from SHOOTING GALLERY and Barrett Rifles... Barrett is running a For Women Only class at the Whittington Center in Raton, NM, on November 7-9. SHOOTING GALLERY, because we love our viewers, will be giving away an expense-paid slot in that class; the lucky winner — who must be a woman...and I mean it! — will also get a Barrett Model 99 .50 BMG to take home for CONTINUED PLINKING.
Damn my Y chromosome! Oh, well, at least I am the EXCLUSIVE SOURCE of this information as we await the "official" announcement from SHOOTING GALLERY. Expect the actual announcement next week.
I expect every woman reading this to enter. And no, being a French man doesn't count.
Hell in a Handbasket was supposed to be informing me about the guns of the Israeli defense forces, but I got distracted by this:
Go see the rest of the post and learn about the small arms in use right now in the war, as soon as you finish drooling here.
Then drool some more:
So let's see. Crappy grey carpet with ammo and collectible knives in the living room... Sure as heck looks like my house, but I think I would have remembered half naked women lounging around.
Ahem... back to serious journalism...
Les Jones is drooling over one of these:
Be sure to read the whole post for a nice, concise explanation of what "pinned and recessed" is all about!
Once you are done gazing at that old "collector" S&W, check out S&W's new bear medicine in this cool emergency kit:
Want something you can use to carry your six gun at your side, instead of carrying it around in a box? Shakey Pete has a recommendation for you:
If you'd rather have a little .45 than a great big revolver, check out LibertyNews and their .45 of the week.
And in a follow up, Michael Bane has more on the new Taurus 1911, including a head-to-head comparison with a $3,500 customized Kimber:
This says a LOT:
Is the Taurus an amazing value? Abso-freaking-lutely! The fact that an out-of-the-box Taurus was able to run with the Kimber at all says a bunch. I would be happy to take the Taurus to an IPSC or an IDPA match as it sets, right out of the box. After this afternoon's almost 500 rounds, I'd be willing to stick the Taurus in an IWB holster and carry it as it is.
I sold my Kimber stainless target 1911 a while back to help defray the cost of law school. Now that law school is over and employment is (hopefully!) imminent, I am looking to replace it. I had been planning on just dropping a grand on another identical Kimber. Now I am rethinking that plan. It sounds like for the same price, I can get a new Taurus 1911 AND pay for a custom trigger job and new hammer AND replace my ailing DVD player to boot!
Blogonomicon takes us from big bores to small bores with a lesson on the birth of the .22 magnum.
Interestingly enough, Geezer sends in this entry, that covers both a .45:
...and a .22!
As long as we are combining things with the .22, why not take it a step further, like this?
I've been meaning to build another custom 10/22, but this time in a "tactical" setup, as opposed to the "match" setup projects I've done before. This new stock might be a good start.
Can you get by with just one perfect rifle?
Everyone told me that was silly – you can’t have just one. Ask some guy with 8 AR15s if you can have just one.
Colt CCO thinks he can. Read the first of four parts here, and follow his links to the rest of the story!
Mr. Completely has the latest pin shoot write up here. And here you can find everything you need to know about hanging plate matches, complete with photos:
Do you want to learn how to shoot like a Marine? Well, then you are going to have to join the MARINES!
But if you aren't up to that (and it's no shame if you aren't, because so few truly are), one former Marine, Spank that Donkey, is here to share some information with you.
And to round out the gun pr0n, TFS Magnum wants to know... what gun is being depicted here?
At first I thought this looked like the Jericho 941... Anybody have a guess?
That's my guess, too, but I believe there are several other very similar guns, all related to the CZ. Anyone out there want to help us ID this one?

Enough gun pr0n, let's talk issues and stuff:
Rusty Shackleford is buying a gun. Winds of Change analyzes.
If you've been following Michael Bane's blog, you know about the ongoing coverage of the USFS and shooting on public land. Read the latest installment here:
In short, USFS officials have lied to the media and to public officials about the scale of the antigun jihad...it is well-planned and well-funded...the POSTED signs were in the warehouse and ready to go up. If you know anything at all about federal procurement, you'll know it doesn't happen overnight. The USFS mouthpiece was sent out to difuse criticism and buy time to get the signs up and the program established...and it worked!
Bastards!
What difference does one comma make? Uncle takes on another anti-gun weasel who attempts to parse words with the Second Amendment. He also has some news on the Bloomberg cases:
So, the little dealers who don’t have Bob Barr representing them caved to avoid a court battle would be my guess.
I have said it before, and I'll say it again: President Bush needs to nominate Bob Barr to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals before his term is up!
If you wondered what ever became of Captain of a Crew of One, he has shut down his blog for personal reasons. But he is still publishing, using The Gun Blogs as his forum. This week, he looks for truth in a story about armed citizen self-defense:
Some might argue that Sgt. Higgin's true statement was almost as egregious as the reported one. I'll not get into that argument here, I just thought I'd do my part in getting Sgt. Higgins' version of the story out. It doesn't sound like he considers himself one of "the only ones" and was given a raw deal by the press. Not that this surprises me at all. I have to wonder how many of the imbecilic remarks attributed to police officers by the press are really just constructs of the reporter's imagination?
FuggerNutter would like to invite us all to join his family in a new type of discussion that combines the gun with the hunt with the kill with the food with the family with the bigger picture: Our Daily Bread. I look forward to this!
If you would like to get together with other gun bloggers and discuss issues like these, debate the merits of the AR vs. the AK, or the .270 vs. the .30-'06, discuss the best methods of home defense, or just "shoot" the breeze, then make plans to meet at the Gun Blogger Rendez-Vous in Reno!
And finally, the Civilian Gun Self Defense blog has a very important lesson for us all: don't wear a mask and carry a weapon into a convenience store in TEXAS!

No match for the Islamo-wackos! No wonder the Muslos prefer helpless women and children! My money is on an American armed babe!
