Rush Limbaugh had some things to say today. I copied the following from his website:
"Evil is out there. It's spotted. Evil identifies itself in many cases. Evil warns you that it's coming."
"Having now gotten their wish in having Terri Schiavo put to death by court order, the American left is now free to turn their attention to saving Scott Peterson from the same fate, which will no doubt happen."
"It's interesting because the mainstream press was trying to find conflicts of interest on all the other sides of this issue, but when it comes to the Felos-Schiavo side of this they didn't seem to look very hard."
"This is just the rock bottom. There's no other way to describe what happened today. The US judiciary forced the killing of an innocent American by virtue of torture, two weeks of starvation and dehydration, and resisted all efforts that were within the realm of the legal system to just take one more look at it, to save her life. It's just incredible that it has happened."
"Some people get off on death. So many people do, folks."
"The legislative and executive branches of our government did not act in a matter demonstrably at odds with our Founding Fathers' blueprint for the governance of a free people -- our Constitution -- in the Schiavo case."
"It is scary if this judge in the Schiavo case is unaware of Article 3, and unaware of the federal courts' relationship to the United States Congress and the duly elected representatives of the people."
"When you boil it down, it's the courts that caused this woman to die or let this woman die, however you want to look at it."
"We come to you today on March 31st, 2005, a day in which the United States government succeeded in starving one of its own innocent citizens in a two-week public spectacle."
"Would somebody tell me how it would have been different had the Republicans not acted, had the Congress not passed that legislation, had the president not signed it, had Jeb Bush not said whatever he said? How in the world would this be different? The woman would have still died."
"The whole notion here that the judicial branch is usurping powers...? You know, all the analysis of 'why?' is great, as long as it continues to focus people's attention on it."
"We can't compromise the medical community -- and don't have the courts order it. If somebody wants to commit suicide, fine. If they want to kill themselves, that's fine. It happens all the time. They're in charge of their own destiny. That's a far cry from a court, a bunch of federal courts, state courts, ordering somebody to be starved and ordering somebody to be killed."
"We know that there was an enthusiasm for this woman to die and we know why. There are several reasons. Among them, the left in this country is just frightened to death of the Christian right, and they blame the Christian right for all their electoral losses since 1994 and they want to stick it to the Christian right."
"Anything the Christian right can lose on, the left will be happy about, even if it takes the death of Terri Schiavo to upset the Christian right and cause the Christian right to experience a so-called loss on an issue. We also had a number of people protesting down there that were in fact anti-Bush, members of the Communist Youth League or some such thing, and they're out there eagerly hoping that Bush loses this because he was on the side of Terri Schiavo living."
"There may not have been that many people eager for her to die, but there were that many people that were eager for the Christian right and Bush to lose. Of course, the outcome is the same: Terri Schiavo dies."
"We were just flipped off by the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals."
"This Felos guy has written that he can look in someone's eye and decide and know whether they want to die or not. These are people oriented toward this particular macabre set of circumstances where life is concerned. We've got all kinds of crackpots."
"Reverend Jackson didn't say anything different than Father Pavone. He just said it differently."
"This George Felos guy is no different than these cult leaders that get people to go die because they're going to go meet some mother ship 24 million miles away up in outer space."
"Folks, I gotta tell you something: I feel like taking a shower after I listen to this Felos guy."
