Does it strike you as more than just coincidental that "Deep Throat" is out of the closet and the media is all abuzz reliving the downfall of Tricky Dick, plastering Watergate all over every paper and network news show... when Nixon's son-in-law has only-so-recently been named as a front-runner against Hillary Rodham for the Senate in 2006?
Could it have anything to do with the reality that a Senate defeat for Hillary in 2006 would mean no chance for her to win the White House in 2008? And with Hillary the only viable Presidential candidate on the Left, it's not just the Clinton camp fighting for her... it's the entire Left! After all, with the 800-pound "centrist" gorilla Hillary out of the picture, Republicans have an opportunity to run an even more conservative candidate than they could otherwise ever hope to see win.
President Gingrich?
Wipe Hillary out of the picture, and it could happen... keep Hillary in play, and the conventional wisdom is that we need someone like Giuliani or McCain (i.e., someone at least palatable to liberals in the horror that Hillary loses) in order to defeat her. Take away Hillary, and the Left will collapse around candidates like John Kerry and Howard Dean. Sure, that's red meat (or should I say blue tofu?) for the moonbat base, but the real movers-and-shakers of the democRat party know that would be suicide in the general election. Thus, the power-players of the Left all have reason to help Hillary win Senate re-election; what better way than putting Watergate, the Left's greatest victory, back in the news, tarnishing anyone connected to Nixon in the process?
Could there be a "vast left-wing conspiracy" behind the outing of "Deep Throat"? Stranger things have happened...
Hmmm.
It's too early for 2006, IMHO. In the court of public opinion, by the time the 2006 campaign has begun this news will be ANCIENT.
Were this June 2006 you would CERTAINLY have a point.
Don't forget, the Clintons were/are the MASTERS of the "timed leak" - bad news hit the airwaves at 5:00 PM on a Friday; good news was Monday at 9 AM...

BUT remember that there is more than one challenger facing Shrillary in 2006! This move now takes the steam out of only one of them. Expect more of this over the next year to gradually narrow the field of challengers down to the one who can't win.

more than likely the "revelation" has to do with MONEY. what gets most of the dirt out in view, money. maybe "deep throats" pockets were getting a bit empty.

money is imporant. as Deep Throat himself said, "follow the money." But he could have gotten the money last year, or next year. Why now? The money is a constant over time; the time is the variable. The question isn't "why did Deep Throat come out of the closet?" but "why NOW?"
speaking of money: a lot of money talk on Rush--I do think it is strange that Bob Woodward got rich over this, while Felt has spent the last 10 years living in his daughter's garage!
Have you seen the Ben Stein column?
