There is a proposal in Congress for a Constitutional Amendment that would change the way America looks at aliens.
It has nothing to do with Arnold.
Congresswoman Candice Miller of Michigan this week introduced House Joint Resolution 53, which proposes an amendment to change the way Congressional seats are apportioned, by only counting the United States citizens of each state as measured by decennial census.
Currently, under the 14th Amendment, Congressional seats are apportioned by the number of people living in each state. That means that states with large numbers of non-voting aliens, legal or not, get more votes in Congress. It also means that areas with large numbers of aliens, areas traditionally more likely to support liberal politicians, get a larger number of districts, more easily gerrymandered to ensure liberal political victories.
But H.J.R. 53, if approved, would sweep all that away. And boy, oh boy, what a change that would be!
California would lose between 5 and 10 Congressional seats--and probably all of them would be seats currently held by democRats. Other border states, including red states like Texas and Florida, would lose seats, too. But it is important to consider that the seats lost in these red states would be largely democRat-held seats. The result would be that Florida would suddenly shift from being a competitive-state to solid-GOP, while Texas would become virtually a Republican monolith.
Because of the shift in Congressional seats, resources the GOP currently allocates to winning House districts could be re-allocated to winning Senate seats and Governor's offices.
That means big, big Republican gains at all levels of government.
With this amendment, we could be looking at a long-term shift towards even more GOP dominance, leading to filibuster-proof and veto-proof majorities in both Houses for decades.
This could destroy the democRat party.
We need to support this!
And what argument can legitimately be made against it? Are you in favor of giving illegal aliens power in Congress? Do you think illegal aliens should be counted the same as United States Citizens in our census? Should your legitimate vote, your voice in government, be diluted by the presence of illegal aliens?
Read Congresswoman Miller's press release here. Now, contact your Representatives and Senators in Washington and tell them you support H.J.R. 53.
I have sent an emial to my electred officials. It is outrageous to think that a person who is here illegally has as much of a voice as a citizen. I sincerely hope this passes.
