It appears that some newspapers are censoring classified ads for legal firearms sales.
Now I can hear some from the pro-gun crowd making claims of violation of the Second Amendment, infringing the right to keep and bear arms, etc.
And let me be the first to tell you that I think these newspapers are NUTS.
But, there is that FIRST Amendment out there to remember, as well as the Second.
Newspapers have every right to do business as they see fit. They can choose to run only certain types of ads, or none at all. They can write whatever they want. They can exclude voices with an opposing point of view. A newspaper with a left-wing agenda can run nothing but anti-gun articles, ignore pro-gun letters, and refuse to print ads for guns, or any other type of product.
That's their right.
It's your right to read some other newspaper. Or none at all.
What's the best weapon against this type of anti-gun policy?
$ $ $
That's right, money talks and BS walks. Forget trying to win over newspapers to your point of view. Newspapers are corrupt, totally under the control of leftist idealogues. Talking to newspaper editors is like talking to smelly hippie 27-year old sociology students at the U of O. Well, not quite. Most college students eventually run out of money and have to get jobs, making many of them suddenly realize that they embrace capitalism.
Newspapers are unique in the capitalist world: those that continue to make money (that number is falling) do so without any concerns over the quality of their content, because most newspaper readers don't actually read the paper. It's true. Most people who fork over a buck for a copy of their local dead fish wrapper want to read the sports page, the comics, the entertainment schedules, and the crossword puzzles. And as long as the papers continue to run such information and entertainment, they will sell, no matter how insane the front page articles or business practices are.
So stop buying the paper.
YOU. STOP. BUYING. THE. PAPER.
I know what most of you readers are like.
You dig your football. Well, if you are reading this, you have mastered the power of the internet. So go to the online pages for Sports Illustrated, ESPN, etc., and stop buying the paper.
You like the funny pages. So read them online.
You want to see what movies are playing, or what's on TV. It's on the net.
You do crossword puzzles. For the cost of the daily paper, you can buy a lot of puzzle books.
Just stop giving money to the newspapers who have liberal policies. Now, if you bought a newspaper this week, check the classified ads. Are there ads for guns for sale? If you live in a big city, there should be some: given the sheer number of people in a metropolis, at least one person should be selling a gun. If you live in the country, there should be some: in rural America, guns are a way of life, and there is a real market for buying and selling guns. Are there no ads for firearms? Then your paper won't run them. Stop buying that paper.
Exercise YOUR First Amendment right: the right to assemble. Your right to assemble gives you the right to associate, or NOT to associate, with the people of your choice. So don't associate with anti-gun liberals.
If enough of us stop giving $ $ $ to liberal newspapers, they will go out of business. That sounds better than badgering newspapers to run gun ads.
