Evolution

So, I was checking my stats and lo and behold!

I have evolved all the way up to a PLAYFUL PRIMATE in the Truth Laid Bear Ecosystem!

Frankly, I am shocked.  Imagine little old me, the number 90 blog out of so many thousands...

But... I think this is just a temporary anomaly.  Even though my ranking is up, my actual numbers for links and readers are DOWN.  What's going on?  I suspect this is related to Harry Potter.  Seriously.  With 10 million copies sold the first day, many to computer nerds like me, overall use of the internet is probably way, way down these last few days.  So all blogs have lost a ton of readers while so many folks are out there learning the secrets of the Half-Blood Prince.  But for some reason, perhaps all the attention I am getting over Chris and the fatwah, my readership, while down, is down less than the average.  Everyone drops; I drop less than others; for now, my rankings are up.

I suspect this will all change by tomorrow, as the Ecosystem seems to have some pretty severe ups and downs.

Same thing here. I'm at #269 right now, and I usually hover around #400. My numbers for the weekend are about the same as most weekends, but I've noticed that a lot of other bloggers traffic is off a lot. And I think you're right. The other thing is that Instapundit's blogging has been really light this weekend and I think that impacted traffic to other folks.

So, tomorrow you and I will probably be back at our usual #200 and #400, respectively. But I plan to enjoy my 24 hours of fame.
