France attacked by locusts...

...and as expected, the French surrender.  The crux of the story:

"There is nothing we can do... [t]he locust has no known predator and the only insecticides which might make a difference are banned."

My emphasis added.  We'd help, but first we'd need to get permission from the U.N.

You can blame the enviroidiots for the banning of DDT, especially when the information they used was FALSE!

... and since the French have banned the useful pesticides, the locusts would be all "organic!"

There's probably some kind of EU food-trade restriction they would violate like the French agricultural subsidy - the farmers would have to go on strike.
