NEVER FORGET
for what, hating the flag?
Posted by: Torrid | Sunday, 24 July 2005 at 03:34 PM
Torrid, did you even read the article? The perpertators *stole* flags from the property, and burned them under the family's car, damaging it as well. I think the argument that it is a hate crime isn't too far-fetched - hate against the family of a soldier.
Thanks for posting that, Gullyborg.

Torrid, understand this.
What these people did was a CRIME. They stole property (the flags) from two different residences (2 charges of felony theft), they burned in city limits without a permit (The flags, a misdemeanor), they committed arson (a felony, 21 counts if you count the flags and the car), and they can be brought up on charges of harassment as well.
Not only that, but this can be classified as a hate crime because of the nature of the attack, the message being sent by the perpetrators, and more.
So...21 counts of arson, 2 counts felony theft, 1 count of burning within city limits without a permit, and 1 count of harassment/hate crime statute violation. 25 counts all total, that can get someone, or a group, some very hard time in a very hard pound-them-in-the-ass prison.

I like your line of thinking, Sailor Republica!

Don't forget trespassing, 1 count per individual involved.

Thank you for linking to Eric's post. I dropped him a comment letting him know I was going to link to his post on my blog. Within 2 hours of posting I received 7 comments. That's a lot of comments for a post on my site. Many of my blog's readers are outraged.
