Quick thought:
Bush should nominate Ann Coulter. She is constitutional scholar with a J.D. from a respectable law school. That's more than most of our Justices have had, historically.
I'm serious.
Either they confirm her, or they raise hell. Assuming they raise hell enough to block the nomination, anyone else Bush puts up as a replacement looks moderate by comparison. Then, he can name someone in the mold of Antonin Scalia or Clarence Thomas, and the opposition will have to give in, since the replacement will be soooooo much better than Ann Coulter.
Heh.
"Heh" is right. Ann Coulter is entertaining and provocative but not a serious person, conservative or otherwise. P.S. I am being polite since this is your blog and not mine. Ann Coulter is a bit more than provocative -- she is a (fill in the blank).

Can you imagine Ann Coulter swearing in Condi Rice as President? Too bad it won't happen. But it would terrify those who need to see the sharp edge of our sword...

'Bout time the Supremes had a babe in their lineup...
But, seriously. AC is, like the Farm Boy, not to be taken lightly. She has the courage of her convictions. More important, though, she has convictions in the first place.

It's an idea so brilliant that it could never happen, sadly. Hmmmm...maybe Laura Ingraham instead? She's a bit more restrained than Ann...

The best thing is that in one move Supreme Court decisions would be come must reads for everyone! I can see the Best Seller now: "The Best of Justice Coulters Decisions".
What fun it would be to see the apoplectic reaction of the left...

Only her regular listeners know, but Laura Ingraham HAS served two, count 'em, two Supreme Court justices AT the court.
She may be a more logical choice than AC.
I must admit that both are bomb throwers but LI, through en loco experience, is the more qualified.

Excellent choice! There's a reason why she's been on my "other links" blogroll for almost three years. Yes, she's over the top and out of control but she's also wickedly funny. Imagine the fun we'd have reading her decisions or dissensions! No more "namby-pamby" rulings. She'll throw enough red-meat out to the press to gag a cheetah. Great idea.

This is the creepiest suggestion I've ever heard.

Though her actual writings and spoken commentary may be more provocative than Laura Ingraham, I think Ann Coulter is, in her heart of hearts, the more moderate of the two. This is most definitely NOT a comment on any perceived, latent moderation lurking within Ms. Coulter.

Capital idea! Though I would prefer to see the Goddess Ann as President.

She's smart, hot and has thinks logically. Can Ruth Bader Ginsberg make any of those claims?
Posted by: Banjo | Saturday, 02 July 2005 at 07:44 PM
Michael Medved had the same suggestion, but for entertainment reasons not tactical ones. He just thought it would be fun to watch Leahy, Kennedy, et al. burst blood vessels in their interviews.

I'd like to see someone ask Bush what he thinks about Ted Kennedy's demands that he appoint a moderate, and have Bush respond with "When Ted Kennedy is elected President, he can nominate anybody he damn well pleases; but while I am President, I am going to appoint the kinds of judges the conservatives who elected me expect me to appoint."

Wow.
That has to be the dumbest idea I've ever heard.
Trust me..that's NO small feat considering the number of republican blogs of drivel I've read.
Of course, to be fair...one must admit that there are potentially worse choices out there.
That is, assuming that Bush plans to submit your name.
wow.

Lord, I'd pay for a seat to watch the confirmation hearings! This is the woman who said she'd love to be appointed to something requiring a senate hearing just so that when Kennedy starts bloviating she can say "Senator, we'll drive off that bridge when we come to it".
I wonder, at what blood pressure would the top of someone's head blow off?

For all her sharp rhetoric Ann Coulter's ideology basically consists of a loathing for all things liberal. But, I wouldn't consider her an evangelical fundamentalist, and it is likely that's exactly what we might get from the Bush Administration.
I am sorry to say, but it gets worse than Ann Coulter. Much worse.

Ann Coulter huh? Sounds like the perfect way to remove alot
of whiny liberals from the scenery. Just think, either their brains would explode or they really would leave the country like they promised they would if President Bush got re-elected. Sounds like a win-win plan to me.

In her book, "how to speak to a liberal" Ann expressed interest in a federal judgship, if only for the opportunity of saying to Ted Kennedy (following one of his pontless questions) "We'll drive off that bridge when we come to it, Senator."
