Apparently, it's
not something they are aware of as an issue

I just don't know how to respond to this...
Use lions to stop bandits? Say what?

But there were no WMD...

NEVER FORGET
Yeah ... so I met a woman at the Lane County Fair who works as a translator ... she's been quietly gathering statistics on services provided to illegal trespassers ('cause that's what they are and we *all* *know* it!!!) and ball-parking the figures (on the low side so no one can accuse her over-stating the issue), and it's astounding!!! We're talking about over $4,000,000 in labor & deliver costs alone! That doesn't even *begin* to address fraudulent welfare benefits (well, *we* know they're fradulent because they're not *entitled* to them, but our state and local governments are more interested in not making these trespassers "feel badly about themselves" and making them want to "fit in" than verifying their eligibility), emergency room and pharmaseutical care, losses from crime, housing in correctional facilities, etc. Somehow, I would think that *MILLIONS* of dollars escaping from taxpayer coffers would be an "issue". In my mind, this gross *willful* mis-management is criminal itself! (Diane steps down off her soap box)

All the more reason we could use your (FMIL) support (and others) for Jason Atkinson's run.
Teddy K won't acknowledge this, we'll take him to the mat on it.
It's war.

Yeah, but before I throw my support behind Atkinson (much as I trust the recommendations of our dear Gully), I want to hear him speak on this and other issues to make sure he's not a flash in the pan. Remember (and this is a loose example), people thought Howard Dean "hung the moon" and then they *finally* saw him for what he really was/is when he went through his meltdown. I want to make sure Atkinson's the "real deal"

It's one thing to be skeptical of Atkinson, because he is still largely an unknown. But then, Mannix and Saxton are well-known already. I base my support of Atkinson not on his own merit, but on his not being Kevin Mannix or Ron Saxton.
Atkinson would have to REALLY disappoint me in order to fall behind Mannix (and if the election comes down to a rematch of Kulongoski v. Mannix, I will of course, albeit with sadness, vote for Mannix--I hope that if the election is Kulongoski v. Atkinson, Mannix's and Saxton's camps will do likewise).
