Peter Jennings passed away last night after a long battle with lung cancer. I believe it is wrong to speak ill of the dead. Therefore, I won't go on and on about how Jennings, an anti-Semitic high-school-dropout Canadian, said after the Republican landslide of 1994 that the American voters were behaving like children. That would be wrong. So I'll just say this:
Cancer sucks. I've seen what cancer can do to a strong and healthy person, and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemies. As a conservative and patriotic American, I certainly opposed virtually everything for which Peter Jennings stood. But as a human being, I'm sad to see him lose this battle.
Now Peter can rest in peace.
Yeah, that about covers it. My ex went through cancer twice, and a good friend died of it a couple of years ago. It's not a good way to go.
