Apparently, As Governor of Arkansas, Mike Huckabee issued a pardon to Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards, for a reckless driving offense over 30 years ago. This came long after Richards plead guilty and paid a fine.
Why?
Is Huckabee, like Bill Clinton before him, enamored with pop-culture icons and willing to do special favors for celebrities?
And the funny thing is, people said to me afterwards, 'Governor, you'll do that for Keith Richards, but you wouldn't do that for an ordinary person.' And my answer to that is always, 'Hey, if you can play guitar like Keith Richards, I'll consider pardoning you, too.'
Why did Huckabee do it?
I realized that his impression of our state was marred by a misdemeanor traffic stop.
See, I would have said "Keith Richards' reputation was marred by reckless driving." Is this anyone's idea of a "Law and Order" candidate? Why not use your authority to press for parole of a convicted rapist, whose impression of the state has been marred by... oh... never mind...
wow... say that line about playing like Richards and getting pardoned... but say it outloud in your best impression of Bill Clinton...
totally sounds like something Clinton would say.
maybe more accurately, it sounds like something Rush Limbaugh would say in one of his parodies of Bill Clinton.
This kind of crap scares me.
