Pah dump bump!
Apparently, the meme du jour for Obama's camp is to complain that McCain has too many houses to count. Now, I know some of you out there think the natural response for McCain is to bring up Obama's real estate...

NEVER FORGET
I'm always happy to find a man willing to stand behind his convictions. Until they change.
(Laughs out loud.)

I have no convictions about these predictions. They are guesses. Educated guesses, yes. But still guesses.
Another prediction is that we will know Obama's choice at about 6:01 PM EDT today. He won't let it out until after both Rush and Hannity are off the radio for the day, but will be sure to announce in time for night time news to finish their final preparations.
McCain will keep speculation alive until his scheduled 29th announcement, so that the news will devote resources to covering all his potential picks - resources they could be using for the DNC convention instead.
Those are all my predictions for now. That, and I predict I will not be online much from now until probably Monday. The weather is nice, and nothing I say will impact Obama's decision. So sit back, watch the news, see how wrong I am, and then on Monday sometime we'll do a follow up in which we discuss what the Obama choice means.
See y'all later!

I hope you're wrong, cause I hate Romney with a passion.
Posted by: Sakaki | Friday, 22 August 2008 at 02:08 PM
Primaries are over, dude. We had our chance to nominate Fred and it didn't work. We said a lot of stuff about Romney then because we believed it would help Fred win. Don't let the primary negativity cloud your mind. Now the time is to focus on winning, and Romney is a good guy. He is solid on financial matters. He is a good social conservative. True, he didn't impress with national security, but that will be McCain's job. Romney can learn from McCain and be the best leader for America in 2016. And, he helps McCain win the election, therefore keeping Obama out of power, which is critical. Romney will win Michigan, shore up the Rockies, and bring a hundred million of campaign cash to the election. That means the RNC can focus on congress instead of spending on McCain. That means we hold the Senate and take back the House.
Embrace Romney. He is good.

McCain/Romney 2008
Romney/Palin 2016
Palin/Jindal 2024
Jindal/? 2032
This is a good progression!

It's not Primary stuff that I dislike Romney. I do not like Romney because of his connections to Bain Capital, which attempted to buy the radio station (conglomerate) that I used to work for.
That, and by picking Romney, McCain forfeits the south.
Posted by: Sakaki | Friday, 22 August 2008 at 02:58 PM
Bain also made Staples the most successful office supply store in history, causing Dunder Mifflin to close its Stamford branch...
OK, Sakaki, time to let the Bain connection go. That's like saying you would oppose GWB because you were a ball player and got traded from the Rangers.
As for the South, Romney plays well just about everywhere but Arkansas... and if Huckabee would get on board with party unity, then McCain/Romney could do very, very well in the South.

Gully, I'm not supporting Romney as the heir to the Presidency. That's that.
Pawlenty or Palin. Or bust.

Seeing images of Biden with Obama, is it just me or does Biden appear far more presidential?

Sakaki, those are not your two choices. Your two choices are McCain or Obama, and sitting out over Romney means helping to elect Obama.
Time for the big fat reality slap. You get one or the other. You need to put your personal animosity aside and think about what happens to America now.

Gully:
Be happy that Mark Halperin pulled his article about Romney. Cause now we know that it wasn't going to happen. Which means there's hope.
If he does pick Romney, though, he's going to lose. Why? Because there are no positives about Romney. He won't bring Michigan, he can't raise money for McCain's campaign (which is the only good thing he can do), he has flip-flopped more times than Joe Biden has years in the Senate, He has more negatives than any other candidate for the office (only Ron Paul had more negatives during the primary), and he will repel the women's vote that McCain SHOULD be getting after the Obama/Biden pick.
McCain still has hope. Provided he doesn't do some collosally dumb thing like pick a useless person like Romney.
My choice will be for McCain if he picks anyone but Romney, or Baldwin if McCain picks Romney. And I will not take any blame if McCain loses.
That is that.

Romney did better among Michigan primary voters than McCain, who won there in 2000. Romney can spend his own money on his campaign, and that means potentially hundreds of millions of dollars. Romney does well enough among women, at least as well as McCain. Ann Coulter wanted Romney in the primary once Hunter and Tancredo dropped out. The only two people who regularly attacked Romney in the primaries were Huckabee and Giuliani - and we can count on them laying off him in the general. Romney will aggressively attack Biden and Obama. And while Romney has changed his mind over time, it has always been moving to the right. It isn't a flip flop when you come to the right decision (like GHWB did with abortion; like Reagan did in going from democrat to Republican). Instead, it is called seeing the light.

Gully,
You actually think that just because some pundits liked Romney in the primary, that he'd actually get that credibility later down the road?
Ann Coulter picked Romney because she couldn't stand John McCain, and now that McCain is the lead, she hasn't said a single thing about or supporting Romney in the VP spot in the post-Biden wake. The fact you're not interested in putting things into context or perspective. You're willing to draw endorsements from back in February to get your point across. I don't let that slide for liberals, and I most certainly won't let that slide for you.
G-man, I am starting to grow really tired of the "Just because he's a Republican, we have to vote for him" mantra. We do not. We have millions of choices in front of us. And if McCain makes the mistake of picking the albatross that is Mitt Romney, the choice that I have is to tell McCain "You screwed up. I'm not voting for you".
I'm tired of voting for someone just because they have an R next to their name or they are the better alternative. If Mitt Romney is the second on the ticket, then my alternative is to watch America fall to it's knees.
G-man, I'm not going to let you decide who I pick for President. You could argue about this to the moon and back, but as long as McCain has his eyes and sights on Mitt Romney as his running mate, he will not get my vote.
Period. End of Story. Either accept it, or have misgivings about it. Either way, I am taking possession of my ballot and I'm not going to let anyone tell me I must vote for X. I live in America, not the new Soviet Russia, Comrade Gully.
Posted by: Sakaki | Sunday, 24 August 2008 at 05:59 PM
Doesn't change the fact that if you aren't helping McCain, you are helping Obama.
President Obama. That's what you get.
And for the life of me, I can't see why you are so gung ho against Romney. It is completely irrational. The only other Republicans I know who hate him like you do are Mike Huckabee and his ilk - and I know you don't want to be lumped in with that crowd.
But you are right, this is America and not the Soviet Gulag. So go ahead and feel free to support anyone you like. Of course, under President Obama, we will become more like the Soviet Gulag. We'll probably get Dick Durbin for our Secretary of Defense, as he already knows exactly how to turn our Marines into Soviet Gulag troops.
That's what you are getting. But don't let me persuade you. This is America. You are perfectly free to make your own stupid decision without having to let friends try to show you anything.
