By now you may have heard that Nancy Pelosi stuck her foot in it with some ridiculous comments about how the Catholic Church views the question "when does life begin?"
She decided that Saint Augustine pronounced life begins at three months. Even though there is no evidence to suggest he ever said or wrote this. And she went on to say the Catholic Church really never has decided one way or the other, with current ideas about the matter only having been around for the last 50 years or so. Naturally, the Catholic Church rebuked her.
Honestly, though, the simple answer to the question, from a purely Catholic point of view, should be "conception." After all, Catholics celebrate the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, not the "feast of the immaculate second trimester."
I may not be Catholic, but even I figured this one out.
The real question should be when does a human come into existence.
I'm not an extreme anti-abortionist and I think abortion is ok until the cellular blog becomes a sustainable fetus - meaning it could be removed and kept alive and still develop into a normal human.
This is still contrary to Progressives that believe in killing a human even as it is being born (sick).
Also - as applied to the presidential candidates and VP selections, too much emphasis is placed on their abortion stance.
A president can not change the abortion law - only the Supreme Court or Congress can do that. At the most, the president can nominate a judge - but then again, the selection has to be approved by Congress.
For this reason there are more important issues that the executive office and the president are suppose to be directly responsible for - yet are being ignored!

Well, I agree with you almost completely. However, the political reality of the day is that pro-life and pro-baby-murder groups have a lot of power when it comes to elections, and therefore it is important where candidates stand in terms of getting elected.
More to the point, though, this post is to show what a boob Nancy Pelosi is. Her personal views on abortion may have no relevance to anyone. But her idiotic statements about her church and doctrine show that she has no respect for her professed religion and isn't capable of articulating an intelligent thought about a serious topic.
